"Wolf" and "Witch" - Into the Woods
"Wolf" and "Witch" - wearable masks
Many of these beautiful mask sets have been provided to theater companies around the country for the popular Stephen Sondheim play, "Into The Woods."
The design follows the request of the director who first commissioned these masks for a children's theater group, ie, "non-threatening".
It is typical for Pam to work closely with her clients to create satisfying and charismatic designs that fulfill all of their requirements.
The wolf's facial structure had to be modified to adapt it to the human face in a way that would provide the best possible vision and speech. Pam studied wolf facial anatomy and constructed several mock-ups to arrive at this design, in which the eyes suggest compassion, while still clearly establishing wolf identity. Note the wart on the nose of the "Witch"... it sprouts two coarse black hairs. Very wolfish and witchy indeed! This is the kind of attention to detail that characterizes Pam's work.
Most masks are "half-masks", and are specially and painstakingly designed to allow for a wide field of vision. And since the actor's mouth is not covered, dialogue, speech, singing, vocalization, etc. will have little or no restrictions. Essential while performing !
Actors frequently tell us how much they like Pam's Masks. They are comfortable, easy to wear, and provide a thorough and effortless transition into character.
Construction is kept as lightweight as possible, and all masks are made to fit the face properly. Soft felt pads are provided inside at contact points, providing a high level of comfort.
PLEASE NOTE: All masks are made to order. We do not keep inventory. Lead times are typically eight weeks, and can increase during peak times. Please allow adequate time for production. We are sometimes able to accommodate "rush" orders.
